My favourite way to turn casual blog readers into buyers... automatically!

Hi Reader,

Last week, I shared Cristina’s story about how she launched a €9 ebook, and made €3,933 in just 5 days, following the steps in the Digital Product Success Academy.

(If you missed that email, you can read it HERE.)

But what really stood out to me was what happened AFTER her launch...

Cristina turned her ebook into a tripwire – a special one-time offer shown to new subscribers. And that tripwire is already bringing in 4 sales per day, passively!

“After the launch, I turned my ebook into a tripwire – available at €12 (vs the full €29) as a special one-time offer after people join my list. That tripwire now brings in around 4 sales per day, or roughly $50 – passively.”

That’s the power of a good tripwire.

It’s one of the most profitable – and most overlooked – ways to earn money from a blog.

Right after someone joins your list, they’re hungry for more from you.

That moment is golden!

Here’s why tripwires work so well:

  • They build buying behaviour. A customer who says yes once is far more likely to buy again.
  • They shift perception. You go from “nice person with free tips” to a business offering valuable solutions.
  • They generate instant income. That cash can help cover your tools and expenses – or be reinvested to grow your digital product business faster.

The best part? You don’t need a complicated product or funnel to make this work.

Just one focused product that solves a small, specific problem – offered at a no-brainer price – can be enough to trigger that first ‘yes’.

“Launching my ebook and tripwire funnel has been such an exciting and empowering experience. The fact that it all came together in just a few weeks still amazes me!”

SEO & Blogging News

The Great Decoupling

One of the biggest news stories this month is ‘the great decoupling’. Basically this boils down to: thanks to Google’s AI Overviews, impressions in Google Search Console are going up while clicks are going down.

Take a look at this article and this article for a good illustration of what this looks like.

What does this mean for us as bloggers? Well, fewer clicks is very bad news if you still monetize mainly via ads. It doesn’t matter how many impressions you get on Google if those impressions don’t result in clicks through to your own website! If you monetize via products or services, it *may* not be a bad thing IF the quality of those clicks is improving...

Google CEO Sundar Pichai Discusses Fate Of The Human-Created Web

Google’s CEO, Sundar Pichai, has responded to concerns about the impact of recent changes in Google Search on the web ecosystem and human-created websites.

Pichai affirmed Google’s commitment to continue sending users to the human-created web, but...

He said something I keep hearing on repeat at the moment – essentially, Google is sending fewer clicks, but better clicks.

Assuming this is right, this is potentially great news for anyone who sells anything (digital products, physical products, services etc…) but terrible news for anyone who just wants lots and lots of eyeballs.

Recipe Intent Keywords Are Triggering Google AI Overviews

Apparently Google is now showing recipes in AI Overviews when the search query implies a recipe intent but does not include the word ‘recipe’. I haven’t seen this ‘in the wild’ yet, though. Have you?

Google Shows Why Rankings Collapsed After Domain Migration

This article is interesting for 2 reasons.

First it shows that the ‘obvious’ reason for a ranking collapse isn’t always the ‘real’ reason.

In this case, the person complaining about a ranking collapse after a domain migration assumed the domain migration was the reason for the ranking collapse, but Google’s John Mueller shows that the real reason was poor quality content.

The second thing that is interesting is simply that John Mueller’s answer confirms yet again that if your site is full of lots of poor quality content and/or content on a bunch of random topics, you’re heading for trouble.

(And that, even if you are doing OK at the moment, it probably won’t be long before your site suffers a similar fate to the one in this article!)

How to prepare your SEO strategy for a zero-click apocalypse

This article is long but it’s full of gems, so well worth a read – especially the sections on topical authority and strengthening your brand. Here are some of the highlights:

  • To thrive in an AI-powered search landscape, topical authority isn’t optional – it’s foundational.
  • AI systems and search engines alike now prioritize content from sources that demonstrate consistent, in-depth expertise on a subject.
  • That means your SEO strategy must shift from scattershot blog posts to a structured content architecture.
  • AI Overviews pull from timely, relevant sources, so stale content won’t make the cut.
  • Show Google and generative AI tools that you’re not just another voice. You are the voice.
  • When users search for your brand directly, AI Overviews often don’t appear.
  • A strong brand insulates you from AI disruption. It bypasses summary boxes and puts you back in the driver’s seat.
  • Over time, brand-driven searches increase. And as they do, your dependency on third-party platforms for traffic decreases.
  • Clicks may be vanishing. But visibility, influence, and trust? Those are more important than ever.
  • The question isn’t whether Google’s AI Overviews will kill the click. It’s whether your brand is built to survive without it.

I've said it many times before, but I'll say it again... Blogging is changing - you can either choose to adapt or stick your head in the sand. Those who choose to adapt will likely thrive, those who choose to stick their heads in the sand... not so much!

Happy blogging!

Hi Reader, Today I want to tell you a story… It’s the sad and sorry tale of a café owner who went bust... Let’s call her Ruth. It was Ruth’s lifelong dream to open a café. However, from a young age she had always been taught to be careful with money. Her parents had taught her things like: Watch the pennies and the dollars will take care of themselves. A penny saved is a penny earned....

Hi Reader, Does this sound familiar? It’s time to write your weekly email newsletter. You sit down at your laptop, ready to type… and then? Nothing. Your brain is as blank as the screen in front of you. So you scroll social media… Make another cup of coffee… Reorganize your desk… Eventually, you get something written – but it takes forever, you’re not happy with it, and honestly? It all feels a bit pointless. You can’t help but wonder if writing a newsletter is even worth the time. If that’s...
