You can even write the perfect daily schedule. But if you don’t stay focused? It’s all pointless. Learning how to stay focused is essential if you want to maximize your productivity and achieve your goals in the shortest amount of time possible. Why? Because in our modern world distraction is EVERYWHERE. Most people spend their entire day in a state of near constant distraction – flitting between tasks, replying to emails, checking social media and jumping to attention at every buzz and ping of their phone. The result? Research shows that the average worker is only productive for two hours and 53 minutes per day. Worse still, as this extract from the Harvard Business Review so neatly puts it: “Based on over a half-century of cognitive science and more recent studies on multi-tasking, we know that multi-taskers do less and miss information. It takes time (an average of 15 minutes) to re-orient to a primary task after a distraction such as an email. Efficiency can drop by as much as 40%.” In other words… Distraction isn’t harmless:
